Can you get the Metro from the Airport to near the apartment?

There is a metro from the airport to Baixa and to Sta. Apolónia station (closest to Alfama, 10 minutes walking to the top of the hill).

We are on a late Saturday evening flight unlikely to be at the apartment before 23.00 Would we still be able to book and check in that late? Best wishes Simon

Good morning. Check-in time is between 3pm and 7pm. After this time there is a €30 supplement with airport/apartment transfer included. The driver will open the door. To book the transfer we need the flight number and estimated time of arrival.

Thanks for your contact. We don't have a reception like the hotels (24/24) and that's why we don't have a place to store our guests' luggage. However, in the metro stations of Sta. Apolónia and Rossio have boxes for suitcases. Best regards,

Hello! I was wondering if you have a washing machine on site and if it is possible to leave bags after checkout (we would need to leave them until about two pm). Thank you!

Thanks for your contact. Our apartments do not have washing machines. However, there is a laundromat very close by. We don't have a reception and therefore we don't have a place to store our guests' luggage. Nearby there is a luggage store.

Is self check in available? We arrive at midnight on Oct 18.

"Alfama Yellow House" does not have a reception like the hotels, after 7pm arrivals are considered late check-in with a €30 supplement with airport/apartment tarnsfer included.

Alfama Yellow House does not have a reception and therefore we have no place to store our guests' luggage. However, there is a luggage storage nearby.

What would you highlight about Alfama Yellow House
We didn’t hate it.
The location was very nice and Bernardo (reception) was very sweet.
We had to contact the owner since there was no one to let us in the building, even though our arrival time was entered on the website AND I had responded to reception desk of our arrival time. We waited about 10 minutes for someone to arrive. There was a large crack in the window, which was being held together with tape (a bit tacky). The shower head base comes out of the wall. When standing in the shower, It feels very soft, as if you’ll fall through. There were only 2 miniature size toilet paper rolls, and we were staying for 4 days, and had to go out and by more. The floors were dirty, and looked as if they hadn’t been mopped in a long time. The walls are super thin, like most places in Portugal, and the residential street is a bit noisy. We read this point in previous reviews, and came prepared with ear plugs. The bottom tray on the refrigerator door is broken and we had to lift it every time in order to close the door. There were also small holes in the wall that needed to be repaired.

Alfama is a great place to visit.
The location in Alfama was perfect for our trip. It was very clean.
The only downside was the the garage collector came each night between midnight and two am. With the windows open during the heat wave and no air conditioning, he woke us up each night.

Great for short stay!
I liked the location! Very convenient to go anywhere.
Photos did not prepare me but it was quite small and cramped but this is the style of the neighbourhood so I can’t complain!

What would you highlight about Alfama Yellow House
Book the apartment that is above ground (not the bedroom partly below ground level).
The location is fantastic. The street is very picturesque and traditional. The tram is close by. The room we were in initially was horrible, but the manager moved us to a better room the 2nd night after we complained and made it clear it was unacceptable. The manager (Manuel) is very helpful.
The room we were initially booked in was a studio, and the bedroom was below ground level, with no windows. It had a lot of mould due to no fresh-air ventilation, and the owners put the artificial air-fresheners to disguises the smell of mould, and this smell was overwhelming. Also, the kitchen/ living area opened directly onto the street (literally a door to the road), so we couldn't leave it open at night for ventilation. On the positive side - the manager moved us when informed him of the problem to a better apartment, so our 2nd night there was much, much better, thank you.
